A Season of Giving – Series 1 and 2 (2015)



Series 1 - Thanksgiving Dinner at Hotchkin Memorial Training Center

East West Bank presented and shared Thanksgiving with the L.A. Fire Department and local community groups as part of “A Season of Giving” partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers.

To tip off this year’s Lakers “A Season of Giving” presented by East West Bank, the Lakers hosted their annual Thanksgiving Feast last Thursday, November 19th at Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Children and families from the L.A. Fire Department, Mixed Roots, Asian Youth Center, Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley, Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, East Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army, Hillside, Maryvale, Los Angeles Unified School District and the YMCA of West San Gabriel Valley, were treated to an evening with a warm Thanksgiving Feast and lots of fun activities interacting with the Lakers players and East West Bank volunteers.

The evening began with East West Bank volunteers and the Laker Girls greeting the guests and posing for photos. As everyone began to take their seats, NBA players Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson welcomed everyone to the event. The players along with the Laker Girls, firefighters from LAFD and East West Bank volunteers including Renee Chang, Memo Inal, Pearl Luu, Kandy Hung and Lisa Yonan manned the service line to serve the 300 guests. The dinner was catered and donated by Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ, a longtime partner for such events.

As the night concluded, East West Bank volunteers helped pass out toys to all the children given from LAFD that they truly enjoyed!

Series 2 - Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Salvation Army Inglewood Citadel Corps

East West Bank, Lakers players, the Laker Girls continued the annual “A Season of Giving” by donating and distributing Thanksgiving turkeys and pies to 300 needy families. All guests were invited by the Salvation Army Inglewood Citadel Corps. This Turkey Giveaway is a continuation of the Salvation Army Inglewood Citadel Corps’ annual Miracle on Manchester food distribution, which was hurt by budget cutbacks this year.

The Thanksgiving festivities continued into the weekend with “A Season of Giving” presented by East West Bank on Saturday, November 21st. East West Bank, the Lakers and the Salvation Army of Inglewood partnered for the second year to distribute Thanksgiving meals as part of the Miracle on Manchester program.

The 300 guests from the Salvation Army received a full Thanksgiving meal, which included turkey, pumpkin pie, all the trimmings and gifts from East West Bank and the Lakers. On hand to help with the distribution of the meals and making trips out to the people’s cars for curbside service were D’Angelo Russell, the Laker Girls and East West Bank volunteers including Tony Jew, Bobby Oh, Robert Young, Mark Huang and Roberto Hernandez.
