Teaching Low-Income Residents to Save for Life’s Big Events
PUBLISHED APRIL 28, 2017
Earlier this month, we presented a financial literacy workshop for the low-income residents of Tara Village Apartments, an affordable housing complex in Cypress, CA. The workshop was held in partnership with Project Access Resource Centers, a nonprofit organization that provides vital on-site health, education and employment services to low-income families, children and seniors. The theme of the workshop was “Saving for Life’s Big Events” and covered topics on credit, preparing for homeownership, and 529 college savings plans. The goal of the workshop was to give these families the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty by becoming further educated and financially stable. Many thanks to our team members Tony Jew, Beatriz Hernandez, Myong Kim, and Jack Zheng for volunteering their time to empower the families at Tara Village!
