Lakers “Season of Giving” Presented by East West Bank Delivers Holiday Cheer

PUBLISHED November 20, 2018

It’s that time of the year again- to eat, drink, and give thanks! Continuing the annual partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers, the bank recently hosted two exciting “A Season of Giving” events to benefit our local neighbors in need. Since 2000, “A Season of Giving” has delivered holiday cheer to thousands of children and adults in the community. This year’s events include a turkey giveaway, a Thanksgiving feast, and a holiday party for kids.

Laker’s Turkey Giveaway at Salvation Army Inglewood – Tuesday, 11/13

To kick start the “Season of Giving” series, the Los Angeles Lakers and East West Bank joined forces to distribute Thanksgiving food and turkeys to 325 families in need at the Salvation Army of Inglewood.

East West Bank volunteers joined the Lakers girls and Lakers players Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Lance Stephenson to pass out turkeys all that’s necessary for a complete Thanksgiving meal, including pumpkin pie, bread, trimmings and gifts, all of which were donated by the Lakers and East West Bank. Food Finders helped source and deliver the turkeys to the event.

Representing the bank were: Aaron Dabbahzadeh, Angelina De Cordova, Anthony Serio, Dorothy Chan, Johnny Lee, Kurth Demoss, Michael Kwon, Natalie Chen, Roger Huang, Steve Chang, and Teresa Huang.

Thank you to all the participants for a gobblin’ good time for the community!

Laker’s Thanksgiving Feast at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center – Thursday, 11/15

We continued our “Season of Giving” celebrations with a Thanksgiving feast held at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Los Angeles to serve dinner to firefighters and children from the community. The event featured a full Thanksgiving meal catered by Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, fun carnival games, a basketball free throw shooting contest, and an opportunity to meet the Laker girls and Los Angeles Lakers players Kyle Kuzma, Moritz “Moe” Wagner, and Josh Hart.

From facilitating games to serving Thanksgiving fare, the Lakers players and our bank associate volunteers had a blast interacting with students and families from Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, Vista Del Mar, The Village, The Children’s Bureau, and Mixed Roots Foundation.

The event was also a unique opportunity for our volunteers to serve the firefighters of the Los Angeles Fire Department and El Segundo Fire Department to thank them for their tireless efforts in keeping our communities safe.

Many thanks to the following EWB associates for making the evening so special for the firefighters, students, and families in attendance: Barry Cheng, Brandon An, David Gullett, Eric Lee, Ernest Cheung, Fiona Wen, George Fierro, Haik Gevorgyan, Helen Yee, Joaquin Muro, Kevin Lin, Maglio Munoz, Phil Medina, Rodrigo Delgado, Yu Miao.
